The client portal
What clients see when they sign in, how the portal stays current without anyone sending attachments, and what clients can and cannot do.

What the portal is
The portal is a read-focused view of your own books. It is not a copy or an export — it reads the same ledger your bookkeeper works in, so what you see is current as of the moment you load the page.
That is the substantive difference from a monthly email with a PDF attached. There is no version to be out of date, and no question about whether the figure you are quoting is the latest one.
What is in it
| Section | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Overview | The headline position — cash, receivables, payables, and what needs your attention. |
| Reports | Your financial statements, run on demand. |
| Transactions | Activity across your accounts. |
| Invoices | What you have billed and what is outstanding. |
| Bills | What you owe and when it is due. |
| Reconciliations | Which accounts have been reconciled and through when. |
| Payroll | Payroll summaries for your business. |
| Documents | Statements, filings, and anything shared with you. |
| Requests | Open questions from your bookkeeper, and your answers. |
What clients cannot do
- Post entries or change any accounting record.
- See other clients, or anything belonging to another organization.
- Change settings, approval policy, or user access.
- Alter reconciliations or reopen closed periods.
Common questions
As current as the books. If your bookkeeper posted something ten minutes ago, it is there. Note that a month which has not yet been closed is still in progress — bills may be missing and accruals may not be posted, so a mid-month figure is a snapshot rather than a finished result.

Ask your bookkeeper. It is usually cleaner to send a report package for a specific purpose than to grant standing access to someone outside the business.
Raise it as a request in the portal rather than by email. The request is attached to your account, so whoever picks it up has the context, and the answer is recorded where you can find it later.
