A tour of the workspace

Where everything lives: the navigation rail, the header band, the entity switcher, and the six navigation groups that organize the whole product.

The layout

The workspace is three regions: a narrow icon rail down the left, a fixed header band across the top, and the page itself. The rail and the header never scroll away, so your scope and your position are always visible.

The navigation rail

Navigation is organized into six groups, ordered by how often a working day touches them. The desktop rail keeps the most-used destinations visible and moves lower-frequency tools into a More menu; on a phone the same groups appear in a drawer with their labels shown.

The six navigation groups

Two rail items carry count badges: Approvals shows how many items are waiting on a human, and Exceptions shows how many machine events are blocked. When both are clear, no badges appear — an empty rail is the goal state.

The daily rhythm

Most days do not start on the dashboard. They start in the Daily group, which is built as a work queue rather than a dashboard.

A typical morning pass through the workspace:

  1. 1

    Open My Tasks.

This is your personal queue: bill approvals assigned to you, blocked posting tasks, and any write-up engagements you own.

  2. 2

    Clear Exceptions.

Machine work that could not post is here. These are usually fast — a missing account, an unmapped vendor — and clearing them lets automation resume.

  3. 3

    Work Approvals.

One queue for every prepared bill, invoice, and journal entry waiting on a human decision.

  4. 4

    Glance at Financial Intel.

Cash, receivables, payables, and the signals that suggest where to look next.

Common questions

I cannot find a screen I used yesterday.

Check the More menu at the bottom of the desktop rail. Lower-frequency destinations — Bill Pay, Bank Rec, Lockbox Deposits, Monthly Close, Policies, Audit Trail, Write-up, Loan Amortization, Document Storage, and Settings — live there so the rail stays short.

Instant search is faster than hunting. Press the search shortcut anywhere in the help center to search articles, and use the in-product search to jump to records.

What is the difference between Approvals and Exceptions?

Approvals are human-prepared documents waiting for a human decision. Exceptions are machine-originated events that could not safely post and need a human to unblock them. They are deliberately separate queues because they call for different judgement.
